Health & Safety Policy Statement

Velocity Mechanical is committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all of its employees. It is our belief that all of us must share in Health and Safety responsibilities and share in the commitment to making this happen. Our ongoing commitment is to protect workers from workplace incident, injury, occupational illness and disease. We believe no job is considered to be so urgent that safety can be jeopardized. Health and Safety awareness and responsibility must be integrated into all workplace activities as it is everyone’s responsibility and vital to everyone’s well being. All workplace parties including owners, employees, sub-trades and trades must be dedicated and committed to the objective of reducing the risk of injury and illness in the workplace.

As an employer, Velocity Mechanical is ultimately responsible for worker health and safety. As owners, we are committed to taking every reasonable precaution to protect workers from harm. We expect that all workplace parties will work together to exceed the minimums as prescribed by legislation and share in the responsibility to working safe by adopting safe work practices. To further support this commitment, Velocity Mechanical owners, senior management, foreman, and all other employees/workers share a joint responsibility to implement and maintain an internal responsibility system directed at reducing and preventing injuries, accidents, diseases and illnesses.

All senior management, foreman or anyone who supervises others must use safe work practices as they are responsible and accountable for the safety of employees and workers under their supervision. This includes the responsibility to ensure that machinery and equipment are safe and that workers follow established safe work practices/procedures. Workers must receive adequate training in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety. All employees and workers are charged with the responsibility of reporting any and all situations that may present a hazard to fellow employees or workers to their immediate supervisor, the Health & Safety Rep, the Health & Safety coordinator and owners so that corrective action can be taken.

Every employee/worker must protect their own Health and Safety by following and adhering to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for construction projects and the Workplace Safety Insurance Act Regulation 1101 in addition to workplace specific legislation that governs safe work practices and procedures. Our collective commitment to Health and Safety is an essential part of Velocity Mechanical and all workplace parties are expected to consider Health and Safety in every activity performed.

We are committed to continual improvement through our continued participation in the WSIB Safety Group Program and through effective administration and ongoing training of our team.
